Glittering Ambitions
“Oh,
it's delightful to have ambitions. I'm so glad I have such a lot. And
there never seems to be any end to them-- that's the best of it. Just
as soon as you attain to one ambition you see another one glittering
higher up still. It does make life so interesting.”

I’ve
finally managed to write again. After writing 3,000 words every week
and a half in Oxford, you would think that writing a simple blog post
wouldn’t be so hard. However, it is now the end of July and I
haven’t written since May!
A
lot has happened in the past few months, despite the never-ending
pandemic.
1st
off, I did receive my transcript from Oxford! I did better than I
expected- I got an A, A-, and a B- (guess who gave me the B-). While
it would’ve been nice to have all A’s, I’m actually pretty
content with those grades. Now I’m just “fighting” for my uni
to except all 18 credits!
I
also now have 3 internships! Unfortunately none of them pay...though
I should be able to get some college credit from at least the one.
All 3 internships are social media positions as well as remote.
My
first internship is for Beyond. If anyone remembers, I met my new
friend Laura and stayed with her and her husband in Cambridge during
spring holiday, for about 8 hours before I had to come home! Anyways,
Laura is the communications director for Beyond. Some background info
about Beyond- Beyond
starts church planting movements specifically reaching the unreached.
If
anyone is interested more, click the link to their website-
https://www.beyond.org/
and or follow us on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter. For reference, I
am now the one who posts all content for their Instagram. So far I
think it’s going well. I am learning a lot. I also had my very 1st
staff meeting today with everyone, and I was nervous as heck. So
nervous that after I was introduced and then asked to tell about
myself, I completely forgot to say what my degree even was! My
internet even
went out half-way through the meeting which
did nothing for my nerves,
but it went well and everyone seems really nice:)
My
2nd internship is also international- Starting August 6th
I am going to be learning and helping run the social media for
Runnymede Christian Fellowship, the life links church I am connected
to in the UK. I’ve led worship for them twice now, I
also stayed
with my friend Yasmin and her husband during spring holiday, and have
gotten to know the people there really well. I’m very excited to
start learning and helping!
Finally,
my 3rd
internship is with my local church, in which I helping jumpstart/run
the social media for our new Downtown Goshen outreach. It’s still
in the very beginning steps, and I am focusing on creating content
rather than getting people aware and involved.
As
much as I enjoy my new jobs, I can’t help but ask God why I
am doing Social Media, when
my degree is Anthropology, focusing on museums. However, I’m just
trusting that he has the plan and that I’m not wasting time.
My
favorite news of all- my wonderful (former) flatmates, Kaitlyn and
Avrie are coming to see me for my birthday!!! They land in O’hare
on Tuesday, and we have a busy week of food, friends, and dressing
up! I am turning 20 on the 31st
so obviously we are dressing up in 1920’s attire:) I can’t wait!
It’s also very odd- we have kept in constant contact since we all
returned home, however the last time I saw Avrie in person she walked
me to the train station when I left for spring holiday, and the last
time I saw Kaitlyn we were hugging goodbye at the airport. It seems
like that was a lifetime ago!
Another
thing to mention- Since Friday, my brother Cam’s pacemaker has
audibly been beeping inside of him. He had an appointment with his
cardiologist in South Bend today. The plan is to replace his
pacemaker’s battery Thursday at 10:30.
It’s not a major surgery, and should still be out-patient, regardless it is a surgery though. So please pray for peace, comfort, and expertise
So
many things have happened in these past couple months, however for
the sake of coherence I am calling it a post. I’ll be sure to post
pictures of Avrie, Kaitlyn, and I shenanigans:)
Also,
while Oxford may seem like a lifetime ago, did anyone notice my use
of Oxford commas? I’m very proud that I still have retained that
ability:)
As
always here are a couple pictures of my life,
Cheers!
(I missed my beautiful Indiana!)
