Hustle and Bustle!
Where's
Phil off to tonight?"
"She's
going to a dance, and she's got the sweetest dress for it — creamy
yellow silk and cobwebby lace. It just suits those brown tints of
hers."
"There's magic in the words `silk' and `lace,' isn't there?"
said Aunt Jamesina. "The very sound of them makes me feel like
skipping off to a dance. And YELLOW silk. It makes one think of a
dress of sunshine.

Good Morning! I managed to blog this week's post a day early. This
week has had the hustle and bustle of essay writing as well as the
hustle and bustle of social doings!
My
week started out with the former...I had an essay due this previous
Tuesday for Dr. Kershaw, and apparently it’s my best work yet!
Which I would like to note, that I wrote most of that essay in 2
hours, when it was due in 4 hours! Despite the stress of writing, I
really enjoyed the tutorial, and I had to laugh...at the end Dr.
Kershaw talked to me about future plans, and our conversations
confirmed so much to me!
He
ended the tutorial with him telling me that if I ever needed a
reference whether for grad school or a job, he would be happy to give
me a reference, and lie and say that I’m a nice person! Ha! He also
talked to me about future education as well as a job. He told me that
while he knows that a museum would be an obvious position for my
degree, was wondering if I had ever considered business or
communications for grad school or a job! I actually laughed out loud,
not sure how many more times God needs to confirm those options to
me! He mentioned that if he hears of a job somewhere, he would like
to email me and see if I would be interested. That is astounding, as
I don’t even have my bachelors degree!
I
still have one more tutorial with him, though it will probably be in
April (after the official term ends) as he is traveling right now.
Nevertheless, this last tutorial was so neat, and I while I will not
miss the endless essays, I will miss our tutorials!
Also
on Tuesday, Avrie and I went out in search of finding a dress for her
to wear to a jazz dance we had tickets for. We didn’t find a dress,
however we did get to explore Oxford a bit more, and finally go to
the Covered Market! It was so neat, and if I lived closer I would be
going there everyday!
Following
our inability to find a dress, out of desperation Avrie tried on my
Easter dress, and to our surprise, it fit! Though admittedly it was
quite a bit shorter on her...for some odd reason:)
The
jazz dance was fun, sadly Avrie and I headed back earlier than our
other flatmates, as we had essay to write. Nevertheless, I did manage
to drink my first Moscow Mule (which I did like), and we stayed for 2
hours before we called it quits. So I’d say my first “dance”
was a success:) Though in all honesty, Avrie and I had more fun
taking “prom pictures” than even being there (neither of us
actually went to prom, so it was fun).
Thursday
night we went to Formal Hall, which I’ll be honest I felt a bit
like a Hogwarts student:) I haven’t really felt like an Oxford
Student this past term...however standing for the prayer for our meal
(it was Latin by the way), dressed in my robes I had a “moment”
in which I kinda pinched myself that I was actually there. Formal
Hall was an experience I won’t forget, and the food was amazing!
Sadly, this is probably the only time I will have gotten to go, you
have to book in advance, and this week was the only time we managed
to get it booked. Nevertheless, I’m very grateful I got to go once!
Friday
consisted of our regular World View class, however because the
weather was nice our tutor Kevin took us to Minster Lovell which is
part of the Cotswolds, and was absolutely beautiful! See pictures
below:)
Well
that’s all I have for this week, now back to writing my essay that
is due Tuesday morning!
As
usual, here’s some pictures.
Cheers!
(Hanging out at Minster Lovell,
My flatmate Avrie, is an amazing photographer!)
(Catch me if you can!)
(Avrie capturing my meltdown during
my essay writing)
(Ready for the dance!
Yes, that is my dress
that Avrie is wearing)
(Formal Hall!)
(3 course meal! It was great!
Also in England you are supposed to
eat left-handed, hence my attempt...)
(Kaitlyn: "you come here often?"
Me: "I live here.")
(Went to the Covered Market!
It was so neat)
