A Nicest and Sweetest day

"After all," Anne had said to Marilla once, "I believe the nicest and sweetest days are not those on which anything very splendid or wonderful or exciting happens but just those that bring simple little pleasures, following one another softly, like pearls slipping off a string.

One of the reasons I love Anne so much is that she articulates how I feel in such a way that it leaves me as the reader with a sense of peaceful agreement. As nicest and sweetest days go, today brought about simple pleasure. Today was my town's local pioneer festival- 'Stone's Trace'.

The festival itself isn't very grand, however I couldn't help but smile when I saw two little boys battling each other with wooden swords, like I once did not so many moons ago. Likewise, while not very exciting, I couldn't help but feel content as I ate my bean soup and cornbread at the same worn wooden tables with my parents like I had in years past. I also couldn't help but feel a little "old" as my one friend and I walked around talking and comparing who still lived around home and who was had moved away. Nevertheless, this was a nicest and sweetest day in my book.

Later, posting this little abstract about my day may not seem like an interesting enough thing to blog about, however, in this exact moment, sharing what brought about simple pleasure is worth it.
